Frequently Asked Questions About Our New Ownership
You may have heard that we have undergone an ownership change: Cherry Tree Dental is now backed by Wisconsin-based ownership through Delta Dental of Wisconsin.
Nothing about our ownership change will affect how care is delivered, how decisions are made or how patients are treated. Cherry Tree Dental remains the same clinics, dentists and culture our patients and providers know and trust.
We have put together the following FAQ to help answer common questions we have received.
What’s Changing, What’s Not
1. What has changed at Cherry Tree Dental?
Cherry Tree Dental is now backed by Wisconsin-based ownership through Delta Dental of Wisconsin, but we remain a separate company with our own leadership. What has not changed is who we are: Cherry Tree Dental remains the same clinics, dentists and culture our patients and providers know and trust. Our commitment to delivering excellent patient care, supporting our dentists and serving communities across the region is stronger than ever.
2. What does this mean for Cherry Tree Dental patients?
Nothing about our patients’ care is changing. Our patients will continue to see the same trusted dentists and care teams, in the same clinics, with the same focus on quality and personalized care.
3. What does this mean for Cherry Tree Dental dentists and staff?
For our dentists, this means continued clinical autonomy, practice support and a culture built around both professional excellence and work-life fulfillment. Our dentists remain empowered to focus on what matters most: delivering great patient care and serving the communities we call home.
4. Why did Delta Dental of Wisconsin pursue this acquisition?
Delta Dental of Wisconsin pursued this acquisition to ensure ownership remains rooted here in Wisconsin, with decisions and reinvestment staying close to the communities we serve. The goal is to strengthen access to oral healthcare across the state and provide long-term stability for both patients and providers.
5. Will Cherry Tree Dental have an unfair advantage over other network providers?
No. Cherry Tree Dental follows the same rules and requirements as every other practice. Our dentists will compete on the same basis as their peers across the state — through high- quality patient care and strong patient relationships.
Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) Hearing
1. What is the purpose of the upcoming Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) hearing?
Under Wisconsin law, any restructuring of insurance entities, even in the most benign sense, is subject to review and approval by the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI). Delta Dental of Wisconsin’s filing with the OCI is not related to the purchase of Cherry Tree Dental. That transaction is complete, and the purchase did not require OCI approval.
Patient Care and Access
1. Will this impact clinical care decision-making?
No. Cherry Tree Dental continues to operate as a separate company with its own leadership, the same clinics and care teams, and the same culture of independence and provider support. Clinical decisions will always be made by our dentists, in the best interest of their patients.
2. Will Cherry Tree Dental still accept insurance from other carriers?
Yes. Cherry Tree Dental continues to accept insurance from multiple carriers, just as before. Patients will continue to have choice and access to care at our clinics.
Reimbursement and Business Practices
1. Will Cherry Tree Dental practices be reimbursed in the same manner as non-Delta Dental owned practices?
Cherry Tree Dental practices will be treated like every other network provider. There are no special arrangements.
Privacy and Governance
1. How will information be shared/accessed between Cherry Tree Dental and Delta Dental? Will there be protections or firewalls put in place?
Cherry Tree Dental continues to operate as a separate company with its own leadership and governance. There are strict compliance requirements in place to protect patient information, and no clinical or patient-level data will be shared between entities without proper authorization.
